Hilltop neighborhood Denver Colorado
Although Hilltop was founded in 1893, development didn’t take off until the 1920s and ’30s with the arrival of the nearby University of Colorado School of Medicine. George Cranmer, manager of improvement and parks for the City of Denver in the 1930s and ’40s, was instrumental in creating several of the area’s attractive parks, including Mountain View, Robinson (renamed Cranmer in 1959) and Crestmoor. Cranmer Park boasts one of the city’s best views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains and is protected by a local ordinance stating that the western views from the park will never be obstructed. The Cranmer Mansion, a magnificent Mediterranean Renaissance-style home located at 200 Cherry Street, is the highest point in Hilltop and a designated Historic Landmark.
